Have slow page speed? Broken Links/Pages? Site isn’t optimized for mobile devices? No Call to Actions (CTAs)? Outdated Content? Look no further, this blog will provide tips and tricks for you to recognize the problems and find solutions, or send them off to your web developer!
Slow Page Speed
• High resolution images or not correct format (JPG vs PNG)
• Resources loading at once
• Hosting issues, too many plugins
Why is it important? Every second counts.
The probability of someone leaving your site increases with every second of page loading
How do you fix it?
• Use Photoshop to reduce image resolution size
• Use free tools like TinyPNG to compress further
We can estimate it reduces website load speed by almost a full second, while retaining quality
Other fixes – Deactivate unnecessary plugins, move content to other pages
Broken Links/Pages
• The customer/client clicks a broken link and they get lost, they’ll just click off your website! Potential sale lost
• Pages can’t be found, showing an unfriendly 404 error page
• Link targets not properly set
How to fix it
• Use a free Validator to check all your website links, and make appropriate changes
Site not optimized for Mobile
• Over 50% of traffic comes from mobile devices. The trend is only going up!
• Many people are using a phone to access email, and websites. Websites need to be optimized for all screens – Desktop, Tablet, Phone
Why?
• Improved User Experience – Easier to navigate and find information, faster page load time
• Traffic and Engagement – Mobile friendly sites show up higher in search results! Boost your SEO immensely
• Competitive Advantage – Retain visitors and customers
No Call To Actions (CTAs)
• No way to contact you
• No quick form to fill out
• Not pitching your service well enough
• No attention grabber
Ultimately, you’re not capitalizing on leads or sales.
How to fix it
• Encourage a click. Provide the opportunity to reach out easily and find more information
• Incentivize your buttons/links – Give them a reason, show what you offer and how you can help!
• Make contact forms easy to fill out, simply ask for name, email, phone number, message.
• Call to actions increase likelihood of making a sale and working with you.
Outdated Content
• No one needs to see… Blog posts from 2008, old copyright year from 2012, etc.
• If you have blog posts that are old, hide the date. Better yet, modify the post to make it current
• If your website isn’t up to date (why isn’t it?), update the copyright year so it’s not so obvious
• Better SEO. Google cares about quality of the content you create and when you’ve last updated your website
• Ensure your content is accurate, modify content or services to keep up with trends
